Creating a Facebook Target Audience

Log in to your Business Manager account and go to the Audience Insights section under Business Tools. You will see a screen like the one below.

After entering the location, age, and gender information of your target audience, you determine a central target audience. Your central target audience should be at least 30K in size.

For example, let’s assume that you are a company that sells sports products. Let your central target audience be Protein Bar. You type Protein Bar in the Interests section. Let the target size of your central target audience be min 30K – max 1M. Because more than that will not be specific.

After determining your central target audience, you enter the interest of your target audience (for example, protein bar) in the Interests section. Then click on Page Likes.

Based on the relevance, affinity values, and pages, you can target the most suitable pages in your Facebook ads. The Affinity value shows how close a page is to your interests compared to other pages, and it is 2296 times closer to your Protein Bar target than other pages. So we can target people who have liked the GymQueen page, as it is 2296 times closer to our Protein Bar target.

Finally, in the Activity section, you can examine in detail people’s digital behaviors, devices used, activity status, and likelihood of interaction. Be sure to check the habits of your target audience, such as previous comments, interactions, and page likes. If the data here is low, your cost per person will be very high, no matter how good your target audience is.
